Anna Shapiro Taylor is an Australian art advisor and founder of AST, an independent practice based between Tokyo and Sydney.
With more than fifteen years in contemporary art, Anna’s career spans galleries, private collecting and cultural strategy in Australia, New York and Japan. She has held roles at Anton Kern Gallery and Cumulus Studios / Nathalie Karg Gallery in New York and Articulate Advisory in Sydney, contributing to strategy and PR campaigns for the Biennale of Sydney, Sydney Contemporary, Sydney Festival and Carriageworks.
Since establishing AST in 2020, Anna has advised collectors internationally on acquisitions, private sales and the development of collections across primary and secondary markets. She has also facilitated the export of important Australian and First Nations artworks to collections overseas.
Anna has served as an Ambassador for Melbourne Art Fair and supports Artspace Sydney’s Studio Program. Extensive travel through Asia, Europe and the United States has built a network of artists, galleries, collectors and institutions.
Beyond private advisory, Anna pursues independent projects that bring contemporary art into different contexts. Recent projects include a season launch collaboration between New Zealand label Harris Tapper and Australian artists Karen Black and Cybele Cox.
Anna lives in Tokyo with her partner and three daughters.
